München, 16. October 2018 20:00 to 22:30

Everybody loves Kirill Petrenko, head conductor of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester (Staatsoper). Therefore everybody is chagrined that he will be moving to Berlin soon to take over the Berliner Philharmoniker from Sir Simon Rattle. The regional group Munich gets the chance to experience this wonderful musician, who combines passion and precision like hardly any other conductor today, in this season’s the  2nd Akademiekonzert.

The programme: Arnold Schönberg, Konzert für Violine und Orchester op. 36 – Johannes Brahms , Symphonie Nr. 2 D-Dur op. 73

The Bayerisches Staatsorchester is one of Munich’s three word-class orchestras. Guest performer is Moldovan-Austrian-Swiss violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja. She has been called an ‚irresistible force of nature: passionate, challenging and totally original in her approach‘ by the Royal Philharmonic Society.
