Munich, 16. June 2018 19:00 to 22:10

Munich-born Richard Strauss Strauss is a main representative of late German Romanticism after Richard Wagner. ‚Arabella‘ is his sixth and last operatic collaboration with poet Hugo von Hofmannsthal. It premiered in Dresden in 1933.

The story unfolds in an operetta-like setting in Vienna in the 1860s. The main protagonists are a family of impoverished aristocrats and their daughters Arabella and Zdenka, the rich aristocrat Mandryka and the young officer Matteo, who live through various amorous entanglements. The regional group Munich attends the celebrated 2015 production of ‚Arabella‘ at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

The cast includes great singers like Anja Harteros (Arabella), Michael Volle (Mandryka), Doris Soffel (Adelaide), and Hanna-Elisbeth Müller (Zdenka).
