The weather forecast is perfect and the general conditions are ideal for our mountain hike to Fockenstein.

2G required!

The group takes the train from Munich Hauptbahnhof to lake Tegernsee. From there we go by bus along the lake. Then we will ascend to Aueralm, maybe have a short break there and then proceed to Fockenstein (1564m) via Neuhüttenalm. From there we will have a great view towards the lake and the surrounding mountains, the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountain ranges. After a break we descend to Lenggries. There are some snow fields near the summit.

After descending for about 45 min., we reach a good forest road that takes us safely down, even if we might be late.

The hike is not difficult, but it is quite long and elevation gain up to the summit is about 900m, so you need to be reasonably fit! Expect a little snow or ice, but mostly we can just walk around it.

Equipment: basic provisions, sturdy hiking shoes, suitable clothes, maybe a pair of extra socks in case your feet get wet from walking through the snow.
