‚The Nutcracker‘ ballet is traditionally considered an all-time favorite Christmas/winter tale. The Regional Group Munich attends the Staatsballett’s production of famous choreographer John Neumeier‘s version of this poetic fairy tale at the Nationaltheater. His interpretation of E.T.A. Hoffmann‘s ‚The Nutcracker and the Mouse King,’ created in 1971 for the Hamburg Ballet (whose artistic director he still is), has become a classic in its own right. It is a comment on the state of our society as well as a family portrait and a story of the rite of passage, and not least a deep bow of respect to the high art of classical ballet.
