City excursion to Trier

The first event of the realy race took place in Trier in March 2025.

Under the heading “100 highlights along the Mosel” the regional groups Düsseldorf and Cologne have been organizing a day trip to Trier for scholarship holders from Düsseldorf, Bonn or Cologne.

The program included a visit to Cochem on the way to Trier, naturally featuring a tour of the castle. There, the group from the Rhineland met with the delegation from Trier.

Trier, the oldest city in Germany, was thoroughly explored through an extensive guided city tour commencing at the Porta Nigra, during which the impressive cathedral was among the notable sites visited.

A highlight for all participants was the excursion focused on Mosel wine to the neighboring town of Longuich, which included an expertly conducted wine tasting in the Old Castle, housed within walls over 650 years old. Additionally, everyone thoroughly enjoyed filming the initial video clips for the relay race against the scenic backdrop of the Mosel River.
