Program:
Because of the city’s relevance to the Holy Roman Empire and its position in the centre of Germany, the Nazi Party chose the city to be the site of huge Nazi Party conventions — the Nuremberg rallies. The rallies were held in 1923, 1927, 1929 and annually 1933–1938 in Nuremberg. After the war, world history was written in the courtroom of the Nuremburg Palace of Justice. This is where leaders of the Nazi regime had to answer for their crimes before an International Military Tribunal between November 20, 1945 and October 1, 1946. The trials had an enormous influence on the development of international criminal law right up to the present.
After lunch in Nuremberg, we will go on a guided tour (English, 90 min, starts at 13:00) through the Memorium Nuremberg Trials in the Palace of Justice.
The rest of the afternoon is at our disposal to explore the city of Nuremberg. You are welcome to venture out on your own but we can also explore the city in groups. You decide which train you want to take back to Munich.
