Berlin-Pankow, 11. May 2024 14:00 to 0:00

The regional group Berlin invites to a guided tour of the exhibition ‘Musica di strada’, street music in English, which tells the history of migration, that span from the end of the 19 century to the GDR.

The Pankow Museum currently tells the story of the street-music in Prenzlauer Berg, which is related to the migration and also shows many instruments: street-organs, pianolas and the rare orchestrion Fatihymnia (see link below). Many of them came from the stock of the Märkische Museum, which is currently closed and renovated. A member of the staff of the Märkische Museum will outline the history of the instruments, their handcrafted manufactoring and let us hear the music that those instruments can play. The performance will be in German, but parts can be translated to English.
