The motto of the Staatsoper’s current season  is “Songs of War and Love”. “Dido and Aeneas … Expectatio” is a very special evening of opera that follows this motto. This exciting new production combines baroque music with modernity, the first opera by Henry Purcell, “Dido and Aeneas”, composed in 1688/89, with Arnold Schönberg’s monodrama “Erwartung” from 1909.
