Munich, 5. May 2024 12:30 to 0:00

On the occasion of its centenary, the RG Munich visits the Walchensee power plant which goes back to Oskar von Miller, the founder of the world-famous Deutsches Museum. Now as then it supplies green electricity for around 100,000 households.

The idea was visionary, the construction extremely dangerous. To date, it is one of the largest hydroelectric power plants of its kind in Germany and has been listed as a Bavarian Industrial Monument since  1983. We combine the visit (including use of the elevator along the water pipes, which is not normally accessible to guests) with a hike in the beautiful area around lakes Walchensee and Kochelsee.
