Follow-up events EU Ideas Lab
The EU Ideas Lab on the topic of right-wing populism will be continued. Three follow-up events via Zoom will take place in February and March.
In June 2021 DAAD Alumni & Friends and partners organized a remote EU Ideas Lab on the topic “Democratic civil society under pressure in the face of rising right-wing populism”. With a focus on Germany, Austria and Hungary, participants discussed how right-wing pressure was performed and which strategies of resistance exist. They developed promising ideas and impulses. DAAD Alumni & Friends is now taking up some of the strongest ideas and invites you to participate in three English speaking follow-up events via Zoom in February and March to develop these ideas further. The workshops are financed by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Further information and the registration form can be found here. Please register by 6th February.
“We are stunned and shocked by Russia’s attack on Ukraine. As DAAD alumni, we stand for international exchange, for getting to know new cultures and for peaceful coexistence. The appeal for help by DAAD alumnus Igor O. Girka from Kharkiv shows the brutality and violence of the Russian rulers in their invasion of a sovereign state, leading to unimaginable suffering. Our deep solidarity goes out to all Ukrainians at this difficult time – including those who are studying in Germany on a DAAD scholarship and fear for their country. We are glad that many Russians think the same way and have the courage to condemn the war of aggression in clear words. We know: Wars know no winners, only losers.
The DAAD circle of friends and its regional groups are available as contact persons for the DAAD scholarship holders affected.”
