Regional Group Wuppertal
“Wuppertal is the hyphen in North Rhine-Westphalia” – Johannes Rau
Situated at the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, renowned for the Schwebebahn and reputed to be Germany’s greenest city, Wuppertal is home to the University of Wuppertal and around 20,000 students every year.
Thanks to its links to surrounding areas, the region attracts many international students, and the Wuppertal Regional Group is here to help all DAAD students by offering a friendly community.
Straight from the heart of the Bergisches Land!
The group’s mission is to welcome and support DAAD students during their time in Wuppertal.
Since its creation, the regional group has been run and organised by several committed volunteers at various points.
Over the course of time, the group has organised numerous meetings to discover history, explore culture, travel or simply meet and get to know others.
For 2025 and beyond, our plans are to
explore Wuppertal and the wider region while also setting aside time to relax with a coffee or snack.
Our ideas for future activities include:
- Schwebebahn ride
- Wuppertal Zoo
- Müngsten Bridge
- Engles House
- Gaskessel
- Von der Heydt Museum
- Hardt Park
- Waldfrieden Sculpture Park
- Nordbahnstraße cycling tour
- Düsseldorf Maritime Museum
- German Mining Museum, Bochum
- DASA museum in Dortmund
And much more! Get in touch and let us know if you have other suggestions or want to arrange something cool yourself.
Team
I’m Nadja, a DAAD alumnus who has lived in Wuppertal since 2020. My DAAD scholarship and alumni community activities changed my life. My aim is to acknowledge that and give something back to the community, so I’m here to give current DAAD funding recipients the chance to take part in entertaining activities in the region.
